# TopBrewer vs Pie Tap

The clearest difference is rating: Pie Tap at 4.8 against TopBrewer's 3.0. Pie Tap also leads on ratings volume (864 vs 6). TopBrewer's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Pie Tap holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pie Tap has 864 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of TopBrewer's written reviews are positive against 50% of Pie Tap's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

TopBrewer ships an update every 3 months, Pie Tap every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
