# Random Generator vs Raffle Name

The clearest difference is monetization model: Random Generator at free with in-app purchases against Raffle Name's subscription. Random Generator also leads on review sentiment (83% vs 57%). Raffle Name's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (4.7 vs 4.3). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Random Generator sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Raffle Name sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $19.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Raffle Name holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Raffle Name has 5.6K ratings behind it against 60, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of Random Generator's written reviews are positive against 57% of Raffle Name's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
