# Boats ! vs Fancy Tale

The clearest difference is rating: Fancy Tale at 4.7 against Boats !'s 3.3. Fancy Tale also leads on update cadence (every 3 months vs every 31 months) and ratings volume (773 vs 11). Boats !'s advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (5.1.1 vs 13.0). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Boats ! sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and Fancy Tale sells 5 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Fancy Tale holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fancy Tale has 773 ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of Boats !'s written reviews are positive against 84% of Fancy Tale's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Boats ! ships an update every 31 months, Fancy Tale every 3 months. Both last shipped on October 22, 2026.
