# WolframAlpha vs MathGPT

The clearest difference is review sentiment: MathGPT at 83% against WolframAlpha's 35%. MathGPT also leads on rating (4.8 vs 2.8) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). WolframAlpha's advantage is ads (none vs shown). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. WolframAlpha sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and MathGPT sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MathGPT holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MathGPT has 6K ratings behind it against 129, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 35% of WolframAlpha's written reviews are positive against 83% of MathGPT's.

WolframAlpha ships an update every 2 months, MathGPT fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
