# Showbie vs Boom Cards

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Boom Cards at none against Showbie's 1. Boom Cards also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). Showbie's advantage is update cadence (every 8 days vs every 3 months) and rating (3.7 vs 3.3). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Showbie sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Boom Cards asks for nothing beyond the download.

Showbie holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Showbie has 241 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 36% of Showbie's written reviews are positive against 41% of Boom Cards's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Showbie ships an update every 8 days, Boom Cards every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
