# Hail Trace vs WeatherHub

The clearest difference is rating: WeatherHub at 5.0 against Hail Trace's 3.3. WeatherHub also leads on monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Hail Trace's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 5 months) and review sentiment (62% vs 35%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

WeatherHub holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hail Trace has 122 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of Hail Trace's written reviews are positive against 35% of WeatherHub's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Hail Trace ships an update every 2 weeks, WeatherHub every 5 months. Both last shipped on October 29, 2026.
