# STARZ vs Disney+

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Disney+ at 28% against STARZ's 9%. Disney+ also leads on update cadence (every 9 days vs every 3 weeks) and ratings volume (2M vs 332K). STARZ's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. STARZ sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $11.99 per month and Disney+ sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $12.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

STARZ holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Disney+ has 2M ratings behind it against 332K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 9% of STARZ's written reviews are positive against 28% of Disney+'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

STARZ ships an update every 3 weeks, Disney+ every 9 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
