# Beeminder vs Grateful

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Beeminder at none against Grateful's 13. Grateful's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 4.2) and ratings volume (3K vs 77). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Grateful sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Beeminder asks for nothing beyond the download.

Grateful holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Grateful has 3K ratings behind it against 77, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 51% of Beeminder's written reviews are positive against 48% of Grateful's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Beeminder ships an update every 3 months, Grateful every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
