# Lighter vs Avoid Smoking

The clearest difference is rating: Lighter at 4.4 against Avoid Smoking's 2.9. Lighter also leads on ratings volume (774 vs 97). Avoid Smoking's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and review sentiment (67% vs 47%). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Lighter sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Avoid Smoking asks for nothing beyond the download.

Lighter holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 2.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Lighter has 774 ratings behind it against 97, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 47% of Lighter's written reviews are positive against 67% of Avoid Smoking's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
