# John Cage Piano vs ASCAP

The clearest difference is price: ASCAP at Free against John Cage Piano's $0.99. ASCAP also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 30 months) and ratings volume (35 vs 4). John Cage Piano's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.5) and iOS requirement (6.0 vs 16.1). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

ASCAP is free to download; John Cage Piano costs $0.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

John Cage Piano holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ASCAP has 35 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of John Cage Piano's written reviews are positive against 69% of ASCAP's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

John Cage Piano ships an update every 30 months, ASCAP monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
