# Biographer vs Arc Studio Screenwriting

The clearest difference is monetization model: Biographer at free with in-app purchases against Arc Studio Screenwriting's subscription. Biographer also leads on rating (3.7 vs 3.4) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 16.4). Arc Studio Screenwriting's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (85 vs 7). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Biographer sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and Arc Studio Screenwriting sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $99.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Biographer holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Arc Studio Screenwriting has 85 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 38% of Biographer's written reviews are positive against 39% of Arc Studio Screenwriting's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Biographer ships an update every 3 months, Arc Studio Screenwriting every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 7, 2026 respectively.
