# Wireless Mobile Utility vs Alpine DVR

The clearest difference is rating: Alpine DVR at 3.5 against Wireless Mobile Utility's 1.8. Alpine DVR also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). Wireless Mobile Utility's advantage is ratings volume (2.1K vs 8) and update cadence (every 3 months vs every 9 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Alpine DVR holds the better App Store score, 3.5 against 1.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Wireless Mobile Utility has 2.1K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 13% of Wireless Mobile Utility's written reviews are positive against 0% of Alpine DVR's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Wireless Mobile Utility ships an update every 3 months, Alpine DVR every 9 months. The most recent releases landed on November 5, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
