# certifiedhumane vs simplehuman

The clearest difference is rating: simplehuman at 4.5 against certifiedhumane's 3.5. simplehuman also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 7 months). certifiedhumane's advantage is review sentiment (54% vs 31%) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.0). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

simplehuman holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: simplehuman has 1.1K ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 54% of certifiedhumane's written reviews are positive against 31% of simplehuman's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

certifiedhumane ships an update every 7 months, simplehuman every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 6, 2026 respectively.
