# Golf Genius vs Garmin Golf

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Golf Genius at none against Garmin Golf's 2. Golf Genius also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.6) and ratings volume (76K vs 7.3K). Garmin Golf's advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 26%). On price, ads and chart position there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Garmin Golf sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Golf Genius asks for nothing beyond the download.

Golf Genius holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Golf Genius has 76K ratings behind it against 7.3K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 26% of Golf Genius's written reviews are positive against 50% of Garmin Golf's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Golf Genius ships an update every 3 weeks, Garmin Golf every 6 weeks. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
