# Dollar General vs Gerbes

The clearest difference is ads: Dollar General at none against Gerbes's shown. Dollar General also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and ratings volume (1.1M vs 2.1K). Gerbes's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). On price, rating, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Dollar General against 4.7 for Gerbes. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dollar General has 1.1M ratings behind it against 2.1K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 42% of Dollar General's written reviews are positive against 46% of Gerbes's.

Dollar General ships an update every 3 weeks, Gerbes weekly. Both last shipped on October 29, 2026.
