# ANC Explorer vs Capital Bikeshare

The clearest difference is rating: Capital Bikeshare at 4.5 against ANC Explorer's 3.0. Capital Bikeshare also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (2.5K vs 56). ANC Explorer's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Capital Bikeshare holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Capital Bikeshare has 2.5K ratings behind it against 56, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 38% of ANC Explorer's written reviews are positive against 33% of Capital Bikeshare's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

ANC Explorer ships an update every 2 months, Capital Bikeshare weekly. Both last shipped on October 29, 2026.
