# Simple Notes vs Safe Notes

The clearest difference is rating: Safe Notes at 4.3 against Simple Notes's 2.6. Safe Notes also leads on update cadence (every 10 days vs every 2 months) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). Simple Notes's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (81% vs 67%). On price, ratings volume, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Simple Notes sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and Safe Notes sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Safe Notes holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 2.6. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 8 and 19 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 81% of Simple Notes's written reviews are positive against 67% of Safe Notes's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Simple Notes ships an update every 2 months, Safe Notes every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and September 26, 2026 respectively.
