# Alpinist Magazine vs Eiger

The clearest difference is rating: Alpinist Magazine at 4.8 against Eiger's 4.3. Alpinist Magazine also leads on ratings volume (35 vs 6) and iOS requirement (11.2 vs 15.1). Eiger's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 14 months) and review sentiment (50% vs 25%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Alpinist Magazine sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $39.99 per year and Eiger sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Alpinist Magazine holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Alpinist Magazine has 35 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 25% of Alpinist Magazine's written reviews are positive against 50% of Eiger's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Alpinist Magazine ships an update every 14 months, Eiger every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
