# Smartsheet vs Capptions

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Capptions at 100% against Smartsheet's 63%. Capptions also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1). Smartsheet's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.4) and ratings volume (120K vs 318). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Smartsheet sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Capptions asks for nothing beyond the download.

Smartsheet holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Smartsheet has 120K ratings behind it against 318, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 63% of Smartsheet's written reviews are positive against 100% of Capptions's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Smartsheet ships an update weekly, Capptions every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 1, 2026 respectively.
