# Duolingo vs Learn a New Language by Voca+

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Duolingo at 5.5M against Learn a New Language by Voca+'s 7. Duolingo also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs every 4 weeks) and chart position (#1 vs unranked). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Duolingo sells 16 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Learn a New Language by Voca+ sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Duolingo holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Duolingo has 5.5M ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Duolingo ships an update every 5 days, Learn a New Language by Voca+ every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
