# Duolingo vs Mopiq

The clearest difference is ads: Mopiq at none against Duolingo's shown. Duolingo's advantage is ratings volume (5.5M vs 1.4K) and chart position (#1 vs unranked). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Duolingo sells 16 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Mopiq sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Duolingo against 4.7 for Mopiq. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Duolingo has 5.5M ratings behind it against 1.4K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 65% of Duolingo's written reviews are positive against 69% of Mopiq's.

Duolingo ships an update every 5 days, Mopiq weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
