# Duolingo vs Lune AI

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Duolingo at 5.5M against Lune AI's 43. Duolingo also leads on chart position (#1 vs unranked). Lune AI's advantage is update cadence (daily vs every 6 days) and review sentiment (80% vs 65%). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Duolingo sells 16 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Lune AI sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $17.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Duolingo holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Duolingo has 5.5M ratings behind it against 43, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 65% of Duolingo's written reviews are positive against 80% of Lune AI's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Duolingo ships an update every 6 days, Lune AI daily. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
