# pdfFiller vs iDocument Scanner

The clearest difference is review sentiment: iDocument Scanner at 100% against pdfFiller's 20%. iDocument Scanner also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 12) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). pdfFiller's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 3 months). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. pdfFiller sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month. iDocument Scanner asks for nothing beyond the download.

pdfFiller holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: pdfFiller has 8.5K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 20% of pdfFiller's written reviews are positive against 100% of iDocument Scanner's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

pdfFiller ships an update fortnightly, iDocument Scanner every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
