# Nitrox Buddy vs krakentools

The clearest difference is update cadence: krakentools at every 8 days against Nitrox Buddy's every 7 months. krakentools also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 26.0). Both are free to download. Nitrox Buddy sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and krakentools sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Nitrox Buddy ships an update every 7 months, krakentools every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
