# Thai Basil vs Capriotti's

The clearest difference is ads: Capriotti's at none against Thai Basil's shown. Capriotti's also leads on ratings volume (3.8K vs 4) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Thai Basil's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 5 months) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 15.5). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Thai Basil against 4.7 for Capriotti's. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Capriotti's has 3.8K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Thai Basil ships an update every 2 months, Capriotti's every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
