# Lumosity vs Name Skillz

The clearest difference is price: Lumosity at Free against Name Skillz's $4.99. Lumosity also leads on ratings volume (131K vs 31) and rating (4.7 vs 4.4). Name Skillz's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 10) and ads (none vs shown). On review sentiment and device support there is nothing between them.

Lumosity is free to download; Name Skillz costs $4.99 up front. Lumosity sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $11.99 per month. Name Skillz asks for nothing beyond the download.

Lumosity holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Lumosity has 131K ratings behind it against 31, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 79% of Lumosity's written reviews are positive against 85% of Name Skillz's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Lumosity ships an update weekly, Name Skillz fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
