# The Grid vs Whenever

The Grid and Whenever both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 91% of Whenever's written reviews are positive against 71% of The Grid's. Whenever also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks). The Grid's advantage is ratings volume (387 vs 23). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. The Grid sells 6 one-off in-app purchases and Whenever sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Whenever holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Grid has 387 ratings behind it against 23, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 71% of The Grid's written reviews are positive against 91% of Whenever's.

The Grid ships an update every 5 weeks, Whenever fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
