# iControl Web vs My Cloud OS 5

iControl Web and My Cloud OS 5 both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 89% of iControl Web's written reviews are positive against 51% of My Cloud OS 5's. iControl Web also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.1). My Cloud OS 5's advantage is ratings volume (16K vs 12) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 8 months). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

My Cloud OS 5 holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: My Cloud OS 5 has 16K ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 89% of iControl Web's written reviews are positive against 51% of My Cloud OS 5's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

iControl Web ships an update every 8 months, My Cloud OS 5 every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
