# Backgammon Games vs PrefA

The clearest difference is rating: Backgammon Games at 4.1 against PrefA's 2.8. Backgammon Games also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 16 months) and ratings volume (709 vs 4). PrefA's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (44% vs 36%). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Backgammon Games sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and PrefA sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Backgammon Games holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Backgammon Games has 709 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 36% of Backgammon Games's written reviews are positive against 44% of PrefA's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Backgammon Games ships an update every 3 weeks, PrefA every 16 months. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
