# Backgammon Games vs Backgammon AI

The clearest difference is ads: Backgammon AI at none against Backgammon Games's shown. Backgammon AI also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 3 weeks). Backgammon Games's advantage is ratings volume (709 vs 15) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.0). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Backgammon Games sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Backgammon AI sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.1 for Backgammon Games against 4.1 for Backgammon AI. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Backgammon Games has 709 ratings behind it against 15, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 36% of Backgammon Games's written reviews are positive against 50% of Backgammon AI's.

Backgammon Games ships an update every 3 weeks, Backgammon AI every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
