# Backgammon Games vs Backgammon Tutor

The clearest difference is rating: Backgammon Tutor at 4.4 against Backgammon Games's 4.1. Backgammon Games's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months) and review sentiment (36% vs 27%). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Backgammon Games sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Backgammon Tutor sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Backgammon Tutor holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 709 and 307 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 36% of Backgammon Games's written reviews are positive against 27% of Backgammon Tutor's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Backgammon Games ships an update every 3 weeks, Backgammon Tutor every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
