# FileMaster vs Documents

FileMaster and Documents both sit at 4.4 stars, but that hides the real split: 81% of FileMaster's written reviews are positive against 43% of Documents's. FileMaster also leads on update cadence (every 3 months vs every 50 months) and ratings volume (4.9K vs 287). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. FileMaster sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Documents sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for FileMaster against 4.5 for Documents. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: FileMaster has 4.9K ratings behind it against 287, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 81% of FileMaster's written reviews are positive against 43% of Documents's.

FileMaster ships an update every 3 months, Documents every 50 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
