# Speedometer vs HUD

The clearest difference is rating: Speedometer at 3.0 against HUD's 2.5. Speedometer also leads on update cadence (every 3 months vs every 7 months) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 26.0). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speedometer sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and HUD sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Speedometer holds the better App Store score, 3.0 against 2.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 3 and 2 respectively. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 0% and 0% positive.

Speedometer ships an update every 3 months, HUD every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
