# Sygic vs Genius Maps

The clearest difference is ads: Genius Maps at none against Sygic's shown. Genius Maps also leads on review sentiment (57% vs 41%). Sygic's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.1) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 months). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Sygic sells 16 in-app purchases, starting at $12.49 per 3 months and Genius Maps sells 15 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Sygic holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sygic has 57K ratings behind it against 1.3K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 41% of Sygic's written reviews are positive against 57% of Genius Maps's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Sygic ships an update weekly, Genius Maps every 3 months. Both last shipped on November 1, 2026.
