# iMaps+ for Google Maps vs GPS Live Navigation

The clearest difference is monetization model: GPS Live Navigation at free with in-app purchases against iMaps+ for Google Maps's subscription. GPS Live Navigation also leads on rating (3.7 vs 3.2) and update cadence (every 8 days vs every 2 months). iMaps+ for Google Maps's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and chart position (#194 vs unranked). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. iMaps+ for Google Maps sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and GPS Live Navigation sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

GPS Live Navigation holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 3.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 770 and 168 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 39% of iMaps+ for Google Maps's written reviews are positive against 27% of GPS Live Navigation's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

iMaps+ for Google Maps ships an update every 2 months, GPS Live Navigation every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
