# MagicHue vs Flash Sync

The clearest difference is rating: Flash Sync at 4.5 against MagicHue's 3.4. Flash Sync also leads on ratings volume (161 vs 25). MagicHue's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and ads (none vs shown). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Flash Sync sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. MagicHue asks for nothing beyond the download.

Flash Sync holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Flash Sync has 161 ratings behind it against 25, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 50% and 50% positive.

MagicHue ships an update every 2 months, Flash Sync every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
