# Microsoft Word vs Professional Resume Builder

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Microsoft Word at 3M against Professional Resume Builder's 1.1K. Microsoft Word also leads on chart position (#14 vs unranked). Professional Resume Builder's advantage is iOS requirement (15.0 vs 26.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Microsoft Word sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and Professional Resume Builder sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Microsoft Word against 4.6 for Professional Resume Builder. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Microsoft Word has 3M ratings behind it against 1.1K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 37% of Microsoft Word's written reviews are positive against 33% of Professional Resume Builder's.

Microsoft Word ships an update weekly, Professional Resume Builder every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
