# Microsoft Word vs TonTow

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: TonTow at none against Microsoft Word's 10. TonTow also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 26.0). Microsoft Word's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 6 weeks) and ratings volume (3M vs 1). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Microsoft Word sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. TonTow asks for nothing beyond the download.

TonTow holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Microsoft Word has 3M ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Microsoft Word ships an update weekly, TonTow every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
