# Microsoft PowerPoint vs Themes for PowerPoint

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Themes for PowerPoint at 100% against Microsoft PowerPoint's 53%. Themes for PowerPoint also leads on iOS requirement (15.0 vs 26.0). Microsoft PowerPoint's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.2) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Microsoft PowerPoint sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and Themes for PowerPoint sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Microsoft PowerPoint holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Microsoft PowerPoint has 588K ratings behind it against 51, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 53% of Microsoft PowerPoint's written reviews are positive against 100% of Themes for PowerPoint's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Microsoft PowerPoint ships an update weekly, Themes for PowerPoint every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
