# Buttercam vs 剪影

The clearest difference is monetization model: 剪影 at free with in-app purchases against Buttercam's subscription. 剪影 also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, rating, review sentiment and ratings volume there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Buttercam sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and 剪影 sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Buttercam against 4.8 for 剪影. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1.3K and 2.6K respectively. Written reviews are what separate them: 48% of Buttercam's written reviews are positive against 55% of 剪影's.

Buttercam ships an update every 3 weeks, 剪影 every 5 days. Both last shipped on October 21, 2026.
