# Buttercam vs PR

The clearest difference is ads: PR at none against Buttercam's shown. PR also leads on update cadence (every 9 days vs every 3 weeks) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.0). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Buttercam sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and PR sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Buttercam ships an update every 3 weeks, PR every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
