# DSE SmartLive vs NX

The clearest difference is rating: DSE SmartLive at 5.0 against NX's 4.1. DSE SmartLive also leads on monetization model (free vs freemium) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 26.0). NX's advantage is update cadence (every 10 days vs every 16 months) and ratings volume (22 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

DSE SmartLive holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NX has 22 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

DSE SmartLive ships an update every 16 months, NX every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 6, 2026 respectively.
