# Alpaca World HD+ vs Wool Island

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Alpaca World HD+ at 2.8K against Wool Island's 20. Wool Island's advantage is update cadence (every 11 days vs every 6 weeks) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Alpaca World HD+ against 4.7 for Wool Island. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Alpaca World HD+ has 2.8K ratings behind it against 20, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 78% of Alpaca World HD+'s written reviews are positive against 76% of Wool Island's.

Alpaca World HD+ ships an update every 6 weeks, Wool Island every 11 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
