# Hooked on Phonics Learning vs RSVL Library Checkout

The clearest difference is review sentiment: RSVL Library Checkout at 100% against Hooked on Phonics Learning's 42%. RSVL Library Checkout also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 21) and iOS requirement (12.2 vs 15.0). Hooked on Phonics Learning's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (18K vs 2). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hooked on Phonics Learning sells 18 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. RSVL Library Checkout asks for nothing beyond the download.

Hooked on Phonics Learning holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hooked on Phonics Learning has 18K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 42% of Hooked on Phonics Learning's written reviews are positive against 100% of RSVL Library Checkout's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Hooked on Phonics Learning ships an update monthly, RSVL Library Checkout every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
