# Dingtone vs Text ▹

The clearest difference is monetization model: Dingtone at free with in-app purchases against Text ▹'s subscription. Dingtone also leads on review sentiment (48% vs 26%) and update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Dingtone sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Text ▹ sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Dingtone holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dingtone has 31K ratings behind it against 3.8K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 48% of Dingtone's written reviews are positive against 26% of Text ▹'s.

Dingtone ships an update monthly, Text ▹ every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
