# NJ TRANSIT vs NexPass

The clearest difference is rating: NJ TRANSIT at 4.8 against NexPass's 4.4. NJ TRANSIT also leads on ratings volume (270K vs 1.6K) and chart position (#72 vs unranked). NexPass's advantage is review sentiment (19% vs 10%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

NJ TRANSIT holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NJ TRANSIT has 270K ratings behind it against 1.6K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 10% of NJ TRANSIT's written reviews are positive against 19% of NexPass's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
