# Modern Cat vs Poolside

The clearest difference is ads: Poolside at none against Modern Cat's shown. Poolside also leads on iOS requirement (11.2 vs 13.0). Modern Cat's advantage is update cadence (every 7 months vs every 28 months). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Modern Cat sells 17 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per year and Poolside sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 6 months. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Modern Cat ships an update every 7 months, Poolside every 28 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
