# Phonemo vs Blocks

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Blocks at 87% against Phonemo's 33%. Blocks also leads on ratings volume (4.3K vs 1) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 9 months). Phonemo's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Phonemo sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Blocks sells 6 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Phonemo holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Blocks has 4.3K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 33% of Phonemo's written reviews are positive against 87% of Blocks's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Phonemo ships an update every 9 months, Blocks every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
