# WorkTime vs Shifter

The clearest difference is rating: Shifter at 4.9 against WorkTime's 3.5. Shifter also leads on monetization model (ad-supported vs freemium). WorkTime's advantage is review sentiment (39% vs 0%) and ads (none vs shown). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. WorkTime sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Shifter sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Shifter holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: WorkTime has 104 ratings behind it against 18, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 39% of WorkTime's written reviews are positive against 0% of Shifter's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

WorkTime ships an update every 3 weeks, Shifter every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
