# Scratch Palette vs BLOCKS

The clearest difference is ads: Scratch Palette at none against BLOCKS's shown. Scratch Palette also leads on iOS requirement (6.0 vs 10.0). BLOCKS's advantage is update cadence (every 7 months vs every 14 months). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scratch Palette sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and BLOCKS sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Scratch Palette ships an update every 14 months, BLOCKS every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and September 24, 2026 respectively.
